Responsibilities

Write code to build, test, and demonstrate AUV functionality.

Support the SDLC as part of a software team through requirements gathering, design, development, verification, validation, and maintenance of the code base.

Participate in multidisciplinary engineering team functions such as the creation of systems and subsystems designs.

Generate technical documentation such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

Participate in AUV test and evaluation through shop testing, local in-water testing at Lake Travis, and ocean testing.

Dedication to program development methodologies that promote quality code for use in a mission-critical environment.

Ability to learn new software languages, interfaces, hardware components (e.g. navigation systems or sonars) and software tools.

Attention to detail and commitment to delivery.

Other duties as needed.

Travel is expected to be less than 10% and planned in advance.

Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Required

Computer Science or Engineering degree (BS/BE)

Three (3) to six (6) year’s work experience

Working knowledge of C and C++ (14 or later)

Experience with Linux-based development (CMake, Docker, shell scripting, Git, POSIX libraries, etc.)

Experience with multi-threaded/-process development, sockets, communication networks and protocols ( TCP/IP, Modbus, Canbus, etc.)

Utilization of open-source libraries and applications

Preferred

Work experience in subsea robotics or an adjacent technical field: autonomous vehicles or drones (aerial, surface, or maritime), industrial robotics, or other electro-mechanical systems

Working knowledge of at least one of C, C++ or Python

Working knowledge of Qt or other U/I developer applications

Working knowledge of lab test equipment (o-scopes, multimeters, schematics, function generators, etc.) a plus
