Responsibilities
Providing product and process control support for all activities related to manufacturing
Coordinating and conducting assigned development programs to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives that lead to improved products, processes, and technology.
Identifying cost-savings and process improvement projects and moving them from concept to implementation.
Directing, developing, and maintaining processes, specifications, procedures, and equipment to meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
Interfacing with customer representatives on product, process, and metallurgical quality issues.
Monitoring and interfacing with outside suppliers for compliance to stated requirements including assigning, determining, and providing corrective actions, as required.
Acting as project manager for multifunctional teams on process and product improvement activities.
Assessing instability in processes through analysis of non-conforming material data.
Utilizing stability tools for processes through analysis of non-conforming material data.
Troubleshooting issues through validation of critical process variables and recipe management.
Supporting operations to improve quality process reliability and improvement.
Maintaining and improving floor level work instructions for process improvements, including improving line performance and quality throughput, reducing changeover times, reducing equipment downtime and scrap, improving the plant’s overall approach to preventative and predictive maintenance.
Supporting efforts to train production staff on process basics including in-process inspection, indication recognition, and process stability.
Establishing and improving work instructions to ensure the realization of EHS safety objectives.
Troubleshooting, managing, and implementing technical inputs for incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
Assuming single point accountability for the Material Disposition Review (MDR) process, by making the appropriate decision and implementing the related process for each product whether that be reprocessing or scrapping, while adhering to quality standards, customer requirements, and ensuring cost and time savings.
Performing other duties as assigned.

Required
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Ceramic, Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering or other related field
PPAP/APQP knowledge. Quality assurance and manufacturing process experience (familiarity with statistical analysis of process data and lean manufacturing techniques).
Time Studies
Lean Process experience
Must be willing to travel domestically up to 10% of the time
Past cost estimating experience desired
Knowledge of refractory products and characteristics of refractory, including pre-cast of refractory shapes (knowledge of concrete casting and estimating is similar and applicable) is desired.
Preferred
Six Sigma
Experience in engineering, design, CAD software knowledge and drafting skills desired
