Responsibilities
Be part of a team of engineers and scientists developing designs required to implement removal and remedial actions for cleanup of environmentally impacted sites and abandoned mines.
Work with a team to perform engineering design, develop plans, specifications, and cost estimating.
Support engineering alternative evaluations for removal and remedial actions at abandoned mines.
Support pilot studies of new technologies and approaches for mine clean up.
Provide construction oversight of design implementation by construction contractors.
Oversee field construction activities and be familiar with heavy equipment, construction means and methods, and management activities.
Communicate with client and contractors in the field during construction; serve as liaison between field and senior engineers in office.
Manage projects, budgets and teams.

Required
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience
Familiarity with design/construction of disposal cells, waste piles, evaporative covers/caps, erosion and water controls, stormwater routing and controls, road design, slope stabilization, and restoration techniques
Experience with engineering design and construction oversight
Experience with environmental investigations
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with land surveying experience
Experience in southwestern United States, environmental remediation, mining and mine reclamation, uranium mining and mills, interaction with regulatory agencies, tribal lands, CERCLA sites
Excellent communication skills
BS in engineering (civil, environmental, geotechnical) from an accredited college or university
Professional Engineer (PE) is desirable. Engineer in Training is acceptable
Preferred
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training
30-hour OSHA construction safety training
Working remotely from within the State of California may be considered
Physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated areas, is required
Driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record bg check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required
Working outdoors in all weather conditions, both hot and cold
Walking on uneven terrain
Working in variable outdoor environments and performing excavations using hand tools
Carrying heavy equipment, 35-40 lbs
Donning personal protective gear as needed
