Responsibilities

Accurately collect, abstract, and analyze cancer data from various sources, including medical records, pathology reports, and diagnostic imaging.

Maintain a comprehensive database of cancer cases, including patient demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment modalities, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Perform rigorous quality checks to ensure data integrity and reliability, adhering to established coding standards.

Monitor and report on trends in cancer incidence, prevalence, and survival rates, conducting regular follow-ups with patients.

Prepare and submit detailed reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to aid in research and healthcare planning.

Work closely with healthcare providers and other cancer registrars to exchange information and ensure continuity of care.

Stay current with cancer registration standards and provide training to staff on data management practices.

Handle sensitive patient information with the utmost confidentiality, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy regulations.

Assist researchers in accessing and analyzing cancer data for studies and clinical trials.

Advocate for cancer patients, promoting access to quality care and resources to improve their outcomes and quality of life.
