Tooling Engineer

Responsibilities
Read information in job packets and interpret blueprints to determine materials, specifications, and tolerances for tools and fixtures.
Use customer prints to design or redesign new and existing tools and fixtures and components using AutoCAD or similar software.
Participate in regularly scheduled design review meetings and provide customer support as needed.
Collaborate with the Management team to evaluate and trouble-shoot design issues.
Work with Tool & Die Makers and the CNC Tooling Department to ensure proper application of design.
Create tooling components, and design into new and existing die sets.
Use measuring equipment, such as calipers and micrometers to check accuracy of dimensions.
Understand and assist with press set-ups when needed.
Evaluate and improve tooling performance.
Assist with troubleshooting production and quality problems related to tooling.
Develop scopes of work, request quotes and manage outside tooling vendors when needed.
Updating die tags and tool repair files.
Monitor costing and scheduling related to tool design.
Handle materials, tools, and die sets weighing 50+ lbs.
Performing other duties as required.

Required
Proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD software.
Completion of tool design or similar training program.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Solid Analytical thinking skills and math skills.
Ability to read and create blueprints and other technical documents.
Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time.
Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills required.
Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others at all levels within the organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience in a tooling/manufacturing environment.
A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a high-volume tooling/manufacturing environment
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of Employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Follow proper safety procedures and wear required protective equipment.
