Responsibilities
Performing highly complex engineering functions related to transportation planning and development.
Leading a team in reviewing compliance of proposed developments with city codes and guidelines.
Conducting transportation impact analyses and safety assessments.
Creating and reviewing policies to implement council-approved codes and ordinances.
Interacting with public, internal, and external stakeholders including elected officials.

Required
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job
Four (4) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer for Engineer A
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment for Engineer A
Six (6) years of experience in engineering acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer for Engineer B
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment for Engineer B
Eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after licensing as a professional engineer for Engineer C
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or ability to obtain a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment for Engineer C
Preferred
Experience in working/reviewing development applications
Experience in working/reviewing multimodal transportation impact studies
Experience in working/reviewing transportation demand management
Experience using ITE Trip Generation Manual, Synchro, HCM, AutoTurn, AutoCAD, Excel
Experience with COA’s land development code (LDC), Transportation Criteria Manual (TCM), Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP)
Experience with traffic signal timing, LOS evaluation, TMUTCD, AASHTO or other industry-standard recommended transportation engineering practices and resources
Experience with the Street Impact Fee assessment
Experience coordinating multiple activities and projects
Proficiency in teamwork and problem-solving skills with internal and external members to accomplish organizational goals
Ability to provide technical input and strategic direction to multiple work teams by coordinating across TPW divisions, City departments, stakeholders, and partner agencies
Experience/comfortability speaking in front of boards/commissions
