Responsibilities

Oversee and/or perform the procurement of material and services, which includes obtaining material or service requirements from internal customers, preparing requests for initial quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications.
Collaborate with purchasing team for final quotations and proposals. Coordinate QGF establishment with vendors and internal teams. Interview and confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as contract terms, price, availability, and delivery schedule. Qualify suppliers based on overall QCD metrics.
Identify and leverage opportunities for cost down, supplier consolidation and quality improvements for assigned commodities, materials, supplies, and services. Collaborate with other Ricoh companies to develop and maintain local vendors as part of the global supply chain.
Collaborate with technical teams to analyze factors of raw material quality issues, recommend countermeasures, and communicate technical details with the vendors.
Compile data on local and international market conditions, price trends, and future markets and make recommendations for strategic purchasing plans and initiatives to optimize supply continuity, quality and cost. Forecast the cost, availability, and suitability of parts and materials. Support cost analysis and volume allocation planning for major commodities.
Plan and participate in trials of new materials with the technical team to confirm quality and productivity.

Required

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline with 5-7 years of experience in chemical research and development. At least 3 years of experience must be related to the thermal media industry.
Must be proficient in both spoken and written Japanese and English languages.
Must have strong knowledge of procurement methods, practices and strategic concepts.
Must have strong knowledge of procurement environmental quality programs.
Must have strong knowledge of local and international commodities markets and contract and purchasing agreement preparation as well as strong negotiation and communication skills.
Must have intermediate Excel skills.
Must have working knowledge of ISO 9001-2000, and ISO 14000.

Preferred

Ability to read and understand high level blueprints and schematics
