Responsibilities

Conduct testing and implement improvements to digital products, services, and processes to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Bridge between accessibility leadership and state teams to integrate inclusive methodologies and standards.
Assist with code review and remediation, helping developers apply best practice solutions for usability issues.
Audit internal systems, platforms, and processes for accessibility issues and support cross-functional teams.
Train teams to conform to WCAG 2.2 standards and engage stakeholders to advocate for accessibility best practices.
Promote a culture of human-centered and user-first design.
Audit state systems, processes, and customer-facing assets to identify accessibility issues and create remediation plans.
Summarize accessibility findings, provide recommendations, and evaluate vendor products for compliance.
Utilize and interpret multiple sources of research data to recommend accessibility improvements.
Document current compliance levels, create reports, and identify gaps and violations.
Align with State Accessibility leadership to support the roadmap, vision, and strategy for digital accessibility.
Support initiatives fostering environments where everyone can thrive.
Collaborate with partners to incorporate best practice policies and align accessibility guidance with regulatory policies.
Assist project teams with management activities related to accessibility requirements.
Provide compliance guidance for visual media assets.
Conduct routine usability and accessibility checks for state websites and online assets.
Integrate testing policies to meet accessibility standards in product and service development.
Advocate for digital accessibility through internal and external engagements.
Conduct outreach and provide success metrics and KPI reporting to stakeholders.
Maintain effective relationships across IT, business, legal teams, and vendors.
Conduct accessibility training, develop training materials, and serve as an accessibility asset point of contact.
Support enterprise accessibility guidance and promote its importance through coaching.
Develop and implement ongoing accessibility programs and share best practices.
Govern accessibility requirements and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Establish relationships to surface accessibility needs and improve state options based on technology advances.
Contribute content on accessibility standards for state guidebooks and stay updated on regulations and best practices.

Required

5+ years of experience assessing and improving digital materials and services to comply with accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA, Section 508), specifically WCAG 2.2 AA.
5+ years of testing experience, conducting QA activities, and implementing accessibility solutions.
2+ years of product or project owner experience, working collaboratively with teams to improve products and services.
2+ years of experience with language translation efforts and maintaining accessibility standards.
Expertise in assistive technology tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Dragon, Fusion, deque, Wave, ZoomText.
Proficiency in user-centered design (UCD) methodologies, responsive web design principles, and frameworks.
Experience with digital forms and document remediation to meet accessibility standards.
Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and experience with project management software.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, mentor product teams, and communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Zoom.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Psychology, Instructional Design, or Computer Science.
Experience developing or designing inclusive products or services using standard technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery).
Experience in accessibility compliance for chatbots, customer communication tools, and analog formats.
Experience with software like eVinced, Axe, and WebAIM.
IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, etc.), PMP certification, or DHS Trusted Tester certification.
