Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end delivery of large initiatives, partnering closely with Product and other stakeholders to effectively clear ambiguities and prioritize
Lead a small team of engineers to architect, build, and deploy the backend systems and services that power core products
Introduce new technologies to improve the performance, throughput, and latency of the comment moderation platform
Champion engineering quality within the team by implementing best practices, standards, and processes
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of fullstack, backend, and machine learning engineers

Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree - or equivalent work experience
Minimum 6 years of professional software engineering experience
Minimum 6 years experience with Ruby on Rails
Minimum 2 years experience as a technical lead for a small team of engineers
Experience building, optimizing, and deploying large scale production systems (we process 100s of millions of comments per year)
Preferred
Experience with Postgres, or other relational databases
Experience with AWS
Experience with queue-based background job processing and message queuing technologies (we use Sidekiq)
Experience with APM technologies (we use DataDog)
Experience with Python microservices (we use FastAPI deployed on AWS ECS)
Ability to be flexible, learn new libraries, refactor existing code and dive into new areas of the codebase
Proven strong communicator and team collaborator
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, prioritize tasks, work independently, and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines
Motivated, resourceful and attentive; especially for remote work candidates
Familiarity or working knowledge with major social network API’s such as Facebook/ Instagram Graph API, YouTube API and/or TikTok Marketing API
Experience working at a rapidly-growing tech startup
Familiarity with modern machine learning architectures and MLOps
Familiarity with agile software development
