Responsibilities
Conduct desktop analyses of new greenfield sites and identify buildable areas.
Draft and modify preliminary solar and battery energy storage project designs using CAD software.
Optimize designs for maximum energy output through data analysis.
Make early design decisions regarding ground cover ratio, inverter loading ratio, and grading.
Collaborate with engineering vendors to develop optimized plan sets.
Research and ensure compliance with regional permits, codes, ordinances, and environmental constraints.
Build and optimize energy production models using PVsyst, Helioscope, or equivalent tools.
Review and approve third-party performance models for EPC team-constructed projects.
Design AC and DC electrical single-line diagrams for utility-scale PV systems.
Develop and manage company design specifications in collaboration with EPC teams.
Conduct site visit inspections to ensure quality and safety.
Implement and maintain quality control processes and conduct regular design reviews and audits.

Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
Over 7 years of relevant industry experience
Proven track record in solar project design and renewable energy projects
Strong analytical skills with experience in production analysis tools like PVSyst
Demonstrated success in project management for utility-scale solar projects
Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
Ability to effectively manage and coordinate external engineering resources
Proven capability to handle multiple projects through various development stages
Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
Experience managing the design of complex projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders, including vendors, customers, utilities, permitting authorities, and professional engineers
Strong knowledge of NEC & NESC, and experience with electrical systems design
Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSyst for grid-connected PV systems larger than 20MWac
Preferred
Familiarity with Bluebeam, Civil 3D, and GIS
Knowledge of PV design software such as PVCase, Helioscope, Helios 3D, SunDAT, or PV Mega
Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person
