Responsibilities

Exhibits appropriate use of medical terms and abbreviations.

Works with the team to identify cost-saving measures and improve work processes.

Organizes and prioritizes workload based on patient needs.

Assembles and disassembles charts for admission and discharge following hospital guidelines.

Answers phones and notifies appropriate staff.

Utilizes hospital computer systems accurately for various tasks.

Enters verbal orders from physicians and nursing staff into the computer system.

Arranges necessary equipment delivery and follows up on diagnostic tests.

Orders supplies, maintains files, and handles medical records.

Takes responsibility for educational updates and attends training sessions.

Promotes safety on the unit and adheres to established standards and procedures.

Pages physicians and arranges follow-up appointments.

Obtains copies of medical records and performs all aspects of the Unit Secretary role accurately.

Performs appropriate I.S. downtime procedures and other assigned duties.
