Responsibilities

Drafting data processing agreements for customer and vendor relationships

Analyzing proposals for collecting and processing personal data, and preparing data protection impact assessments

Researching new privacy laws and analyzing the application of developing laws to business operations

Administering established privacy compliance controls to ensure a robust state of compliance

Simple and complex contract review and drafting

Entity formation and corporate housekeeping, including supporting Finance/Tax Departments in effecting internal tax planning transactions

Acquisition-related due diligence review

Drafting and negotiating documents for business acquisitions and other complex transactions

Coordinating with local counsel on various matters related to Copart's foreign subsidiaries

Handling a variety of other non-litigation matters

Required

J.D. from an accredited law school

Minimum of three years’ experience in a sophisticated law firm or in-house legal department, but an advanced level of experience required for the independent management of complex matters

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Results-oriented, with strong attention to detail and the ability to initiate and adapt to change

Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal issues and learn new subject matter

Able to manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure

Strong command of general legal principles

Self-motivated with an ability to work independently
