Responsibilities
Perform firewall rule analysis and optimization
Investigate and implement changes to firewalls submitted through Port Open Requests (PORs)
Assist in troubleshooting incidents in a large, complex environment working alongside various culturally diverse teams
Utilize management and monitoring tools as necessary to facilitate troubleshooting and implementation processes
Support deployment and maintenance of technologies including Ivanti, Fortinet, and Azure
Patch and upgrade firewalls as needed
Provide support to end users, both technical and non-technical
Proactively identify and troubleshoot network security infrastructure
Support system security design and architecture decisions
Contribute to documentation, participate in internal knowledge sharing sessions, and thoroughly log all work performed
Provide excellent oral and written communication, including reports, incident reports, emails, and other required documentation
Support and mentor junior Security Engineers
Support customer calls with minimal supervision
Thorough understanding of cybersecurity principles, concepts, and best practices
Willingness to take part in potential 24x7 on-call rotation in addition to a standard 8AM-5PM shift
Other tasks as assigned
Minimal overnight travel is expected

Required
3+ years security technology and consulting experience
Industry certifications (CCNA, Network+, or similar)
Experience working with industry recognizable firewalls (such as Cisco, Juniper, SonicWall, Palo Alto, Check Point, etc.) with both internet-facing and internal firewalls
Thorough understanding of networking principles and best practices
Deep understanding of NAT, IPSec VPN, etc
Experience using network management and monitoring tools
Ability to analyze firewall rules to determine which are a security risk and/or unnecessary
Experience with routing protocols like OSPF, BGP etc
Experience with incident and change management
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, oral and written
Comfort in a large, enterprise environment with several million firewall rules in place
Willingness to take part in a 24x7 on-call rotation in addition to a standard 8AM-5PM shift
Education: A successful Associate Network Consultant will have a 2-year or 4-year degree in computer science or related field of study; or equivalent experience in the field
