Responsibilities

Inspire a culture of customer service excellence across the organization. Enable all staff to do what is right to help the customer and deliver amazing experience in all interactions with Coastal Source.
Manage a team of 3-5 designers and technicians. Hire, develop, and mentor an effective and efficient team. Grow talent and capability of staff.
Coach, train, and develop a team of technicians to develop high-quality lighting design projects.
Be an industry expert in outdoor lighting design. Proactively engage with leading press, industry trade groups, and professional organizations to promote outdoor lighting and the Coastal Source brand benefits.
Build our Design Service process, systems, metrics, and reports that enable improvements in 1) close rate of design proposals, 2) speed (lead-time) to complete Design Service proposals, 3) quality (beauty/professionalism) of Design Service proposals.
Drive sales through Design Service by 1) communicating the value to dealers and their clients, 2) delivering high-quality design projects, 3) executing design projects quickly, 4) assisting dealers and sales reps with closing the sale with clients.
Develop and grow a sales funnel of design projects. Monitor progress. Close sales and report key metrics.
Professionally present lighting designs via Zoom/virtual walkthroughs to dealers, sales reps, and clients. Sell the benefits of the lighting design and explain the benefits between good, better, best design alternatives.
Benchmark the SW and tools used for lighting system design, specifications, BOM creation, and quotation. Drive improvements in the Coastal Source process and tools to ensure that we deliver best-in-class project designs to our clients. Develop capability to deliver inspiring 3D virtual walkthroughs.
Be an expert in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of outdoor lighting systems.
Occasionally, for high profile clients, conduct on-site evaluations (before, during, and after) of lighting projects in the field. Assess lighting needs and propose solutions to problems.
Occasionally, for high profile clients, adjust, aim, and tune lighting installations to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary experience.
Develop and deliver comprehensive training to dealers on Coastal Source products, design techniques, best practices, and system solutions.
Provide on-going support and troubleshooting to customers and sales staff.
10%-25% business travel to corporate offices, customer homes (job sites), industry events, and training sessions.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, design, or related; advance degree preferred.
10+ years’ experience in interior/exterior lighting design or lighting sales.
Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
Familiarity with 3D rendering (3D Vista, 3Ds Max, Lumion, KeyShot, Blender, and/or Unreal Engine).
Proven track-record of success closing sales or developing business with luxury customers.
Strong knowledge of lighting design principle and techniques. Outdoor light design experience and knowledge of fixture selection a plus.
Sales driven – drive to increase sales, expand customer base, and grow the business.
Customer is king mindset, an excitement to develop programs to build dealer love for Coastal Source.
Strong leadership skills, ability to drive change, motivate others, anticipate, and adapt.
Solid management skills – people development, budgeting, organizing, metrics.
Strong problems solving and decision-making skills. Ability to analyze data and make judgements based on complex information with multiple constraints.
Strong time management skills. Able to set a weekly, monthly quarterly routine and stick to it.
Agility to multi-task without stress. Able to move from task to task, organize, and prioritize to ensure the right things are accomplished on time and on quality.
Self-driven, strong work ethic and dependable, maintain professionalism under pressure.
Exceptional communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels, inside and outside of the organization.
