Responsibilities

Serving as a resource to internal Organon R&D clients and Organon Legal and Compliance on various issues contracting issues within the research and development categories.
Drafts and organizes legal documents relevant to research and development with appropriate vendors, agencies and/or government entities.
Strong advanced research skills and experience working with and consulting internal clients and external contracting/legal representatives with supplier(s)/entities.
Contributing, synthesizing, and articulating contracting requirements to R&D Leaders and translating it into execution within the project team.
Collaborating effectively with functional areas, support functions, and alliance partner functions (if applicable) to drive project delivery with outsourced vendors and external entities.
Proactively identifying and removing obstacles to drive business results.
Provides oversight and governance of contracting support vendors ensuring quality, compliance and cost management.
Communicating project status/issues and documents/presentations for senior management/governance committees/alliance committees.
Managing strategic, cross-functional or cross-divisional management, governance, or alliance committees.
Providing mentoring, coaching, and oversight to outsourced paralegals working on R&D contracting projects if required. Sharing lessons learned and best practices to positively impact the community.
Actively participating and completing ongoing training and personal development activities to increase leadership competency and to gain knowledge and skills in contract management in the drug development process.
Chairs timely, efficient, and action-oriented Project Team meetings and is responsible for coordinating highly complex team operations and communications.
Directs highly complex contract negotiations and ensures that all internal and external stakeholders (including the vendors) are fully informed and knowledgeable of project activities and their status.
Provides leadership to the team and functional areas to anticipate and identify complex project issues which pose a challenge to achieving strategic goals; proposes and implements plans to resolve such issues and execute corrective actions

Required

Database management experience.
Excellent written and verbal skills
Knowledge of substantive law and procedure and ability to analyze legal problem including corporate, intellectual property, labor/employment, regulatory, contracts, and litigation.
Problem solving, leadership, flexibility, interpersonal experience as well as contract negotiation skills.
Must have working understanding of the drug development process.
Must have a working understanding of and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards of vendor management and engagement.
Demonstrated leadership and ethics; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for delivery.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting, including demonstrated ability in building and managing teams, committees, taskforces, etc.
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; able to establish good working relationships with employees at all levels, resolve conflict and provide feedback, and to devise and implement creative solutions to problems.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to speak up appropriately and to raise issues to teams and senior management.
Ability to manage through complexity and ambiguity along with competing priorities.
Must have attention to detail and a proven track record to be able to think critically, strategically, independently and problem solve.
Must have high level of motivation, drive, and demonstration of Organon leadership values.

Ability to work seamlessly with all levels of personnel.
Demonstrated sensitivity and knowledge of cultural differences with experience in multi-country, multi-cultural environments and demonstrated success with cross-geographically based cultural collaborations.
At least 10 years of experience working in contracting for a biopharmaceutical company, business process outsourcing vendor supporting biopharmaceuticals and/or government agency/non-government agency.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certification.
Experience leading the contracting of outsource partners strongly preferred.
Project management certification (PMP) and/or formal coursework/training in project management strongly preferred.
