Responsibilities

Demonstrate competency in performing clerical duties and clinical support in alignment with the institution's values and regulatory standards.
Assess and address patient needs based on age, culture, and specific diagnostic requirements.
Show compassion and courtesy to patients and their families.
Organize work priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and operate effectively in stressful situations.
Learn and utilize computer systems efficiently.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Assemble admission and discharge charts, file documents, and maintain unit communication board.
Follow infection control protocols and respond to patient call lights promptly.
Possess accurate keyboard skills and maintain miscellaneous records.
Orient new staff members and participate in emergency response systems.
Handle patient mail and deliveries, arrange transportation for clinic appointments, and collect data as required.

Required

Completion of a high school level course of work with attainment of high school diploma or a State High School Equivalency (GED)
Six months of direct patient care experience in a health care facility preferred
Ability to organize work priorities, perform several duties simultaneously and function in stressful situations
Ability to learn and apply computer systems
Highly effective verbal communication skills including courtesy, resourcefulness and efficiency in answering questions, giving directions, locating staff and explaining hospital/departmental policies and procedures are necessary
Verbal communication skills may include communicating with an interdisciplinary team, patients, and families
Effective writing skills are also required in order to take messages and maintain miscellaneous records, receipts, reports and logs
