Responsibilities

Construction Engineering and Inspection services for linear transportation projects, sidewalk/walkway projects, and/or bridge projects.
Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater management (SWM), best management practice (BMP), low impact design (LID), and green infrastructure (GI) facilities.
Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater conveyance channels and storm structures.
Construction oversight inspections for SWM/BMP facility retrofit projects, stream restoration projects, and/or outfall stabilizations.
Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC), Virginia Stormwater Management Permit (VSMP), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for a multitude of project types and sizes.
Post-Inspection processing of inspection photos, forms, and field measurements
Preparation of inspection reports.
Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual field work which includes earthwork, drainage, structures, pavement, and incidental construction.
Communication and coordination with the project contractor and job superintendent.
Pay item verification and coordination.
Oversee and enforce installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls and safety devices.
Ensure construction is in accordance with project plans and specifications.
Maintain project records.

Required

High school diploma
Working skills in operating computer equipment, software programs, and field inspection equipment
Ability to read and interpret construction plans
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Effective communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and willingness to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and rugged terrain
Ability to complete and pass a criminal background check
Valid Virginia Driver's License
Associate's degree in a related field
Virginia DEQ Inspector certifications (ESC, SWIN, and/or Dual Inspector)

Preferred

Familiarity with GIS platforms and mobile data collection (Collector, Field Maps, and/or Survey123)
