Responsibilities

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of roadway, utilities, and concrete projects in accordance with project & contract documents such as: project drawings, specifications, regulatory requirements, submittals, as-builts, and client expectations
Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish project goals, timelines, and deliverables
Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Excel
Manage project progress, identify and solve risks and challenges, and implement proactive measures to mitigate issues and deviations from the project requirements
Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with construction documents, safety protocols, production objectives, schedule adherence, and environmental regulations
Manage project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting, tracking costs, analyzing variances, and forecasting financial performance on a weekly basis
Ensure monthly project pay estimates are created, reviewed, confirmed, and paid timely to ensure positive cash flow
Provide timely closeout of projects, including retainage collection and confirmation of warranty periods per contractual requirements
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, providing leadership, guidance, and support to foster a positive and productive work environment
Prepare and present project status reports, progress updates, and performance metrics to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders
Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor relationships to optimize project outcomes
Champion a culture of safety, quality, and excellence, promoting adherence to industry best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
Minimum of 10 years of advanced experience in civil construction project management, with a focus on roadway, earthwork, electrical, water/sewer reconstruction, storm drainage, and concrete projects
Must have knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing civil construction projects in the San Antonio area, including familiarity with City of San Antonio (COSA), TxDOT, CPS, and SAWS requirements
Proven proficiency in project planning, scheduling, and execution, with hands-on experience using Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary project teams, drive collaboration, and achieve project objectives with minimal oversight
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
Sound decision-making skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex construction projects on time and within budget for a variety of clients and delivery methods
A project manager in the civil construction industry needs to meet certain physical requirements to effectively oversee projects. They should have the stamina to spend long hours on construction sites, often in challenging weather conditions
