Senior Reliability Assessments Engineer

Responsibilities
Conduct reliability assessments using commercially available production cost and resource adequacy software.
Apply deterministic, probabilistic, and other model types to support system adequacy studies and other reliability assessments.
Identify the need for new reliability assessments based on emerging issues and trends.
Provide guidance on ensuring data quality and compatibility between planning models.
Identify the need for, and support the development of, new software tools and processes to assess data and the electric power system's reliability.
Work with industry groups such as national labs; regulators; federal, state, and provincial government organizations; non-governmental organizations; and academia to identify potential reliability risks and mitigation options.
Prepare and present high-quality technical reports supported by rigorous analysis.
Deliver clear, concise presentations to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
Support and provide technical leadership to WECC and NERC committees, task forces, and work groups.
Take part in internal and external teams to find and assess risks to reliability.
Provide technical support for other activities at WECC (e.g., standards development, compliance, event analysis, situation awareness).
Mentor other engineers and analysts and work with management to find opportunities for others to take part in industry initiatives.
Qualification

Required
Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience showing your ability to perform major duties. An advanced degree in electrical engineering is preferred.
Have at least 10 years of work experience in areas like power system planning or operations (with industry collaboration). You also have a history of identifying emerging reliability risks and leading reliability-related analyses.
Have an extensive record of conducting reliability assessments and developing technical reports.
Understand power system modeling tools like production cost, resource adequacy, or capacity expansion models.
Have experience working with industry associations, regulators, or researchers.
Are familiar with NERC Reliability Standards.
Are proficient in standard office software applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Have excellent spoken and written communication skills.
Can work in a team and help all groups as needed.
Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholder and member groups with differing interests.
Can work independently with minimal direction.
Are a leader who can inspire and influence others to deliver exceptional results.
Preferred
An advanced degree in electrical engineering is preferred.
