Responsibilities

Develop design solutions for structural products and components.

Interact with engineering staff on design concepts and progress.

Investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling.

Validate conformity to design standards and specifications.

Provide documentation and make technical design presentations to engineering staff and customers.

Maintain documentation in the Windchill/ELM Configuration Management system.

Contribute to preliminary design concepts for hardware, componentry, and systems.

Estimate scheduling and costs to meet project deliverables.

Review completed drawings for adherence to drafting standards and specifications.

Collaborate with a team to resolve design problems.

Interface with internal and external organizations to complete projects.

Required

Typically requires an Associates degree or a certificate from a recognized organization indicating completion of training in ProEngineer, CATIA or IDEAS design software plus thirteen or more years of progressive experience utilizing CAD software with at least five of those years spent utilizing ProEngineer, CATIA, IDEAS or related engineering design software.

Ability to interpret specifications and mechanical drawings including ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

Experience working in an environment with stringent safety and security policies.

Must have a complete understanding of engineering design concepts and principles and possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, applying them accurately throughout an evolving environment.

Must be able to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases.

Must also be able to determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

Must have good communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and excellent computer skills.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Preferred

Desired experience with PTC Windchill Product Lifecycle Management software.
