Responsibilities

Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.

Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.

Develops new concepts from initial design to market release.

Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.

Write and submit intellectual property (patents).

Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.

Investigates and evaluates existing technologies.

Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support development.

Required

B.S. in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred with 2-5 years related work experience OR 0-2 years with MS.

Self-Starter with the ability to work independently to plan, schedule and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines.

Ability to identify problems and solve them with root cause analysis, including designing and executing experimental plans and using statistical methodologies to drive data-based decisions.

Preferred

Experience designing and evaluating test methods and fixtures.

Ability to work hands-on with test systems and develop new test systems as needed.

Working technical knowledge of implantable medical devices.

Experience with commercialized product data management systems.

PE licensure preferred; a minimum of EIT certification desirable.
