Responsibilities
Work in partnership with technical experts, architects, business analysts, and developers to design and guide new software solutions.
Manage and lead subordinate managers, software engineers, business system analysts, and quality assurance software engineers in developing corporate business solutions.
Create and manage complex project plans, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolutions.
Provide technical guidance to balance deadlines with long-term strategic objectives.
Monitor and direct all software engineering functions to meet standard architecture considerations and approvals.
Lead the assessment of current legacy systems, evaluate solutions, and create technical vision for state-of-the-art systems.
Implement action plans to mitigate risks and resolve issues, working with stakeholders across the company.
Develop and promote the vision, goals, and strategies for the Software Engineering team.
Provide day-to-day management and supervision for software engineering team, mentoring team members and offering constructive feedback.
Keep up-to-date with emerging IT trends and technologies.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering or related (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Minimum of 7-8 years’ experience in a senior technical management role
Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated subject matter expertise and hands-on technical experience in software development
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience managing and mentoring software professionals
Proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, Project) to create documentation, manage schedules, and analyze data
Software architecture and design skills to guide the development of solutions that are secure, scalable, and reliable
Background in Oracle RDBMS and UNIX platforms
Experience using JIRA for work management
Experience with Web Services (SOAP and REST)
Experience developing and managing high volume, real-time transaction processing systems
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming languages such as C++ or Java
Familiarity with communication protocols such as NCPDP telecommunication standards
Experience with Java Web Technology (JEE)
Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, JPA/Hibernate, and JSF
Experience working with Web Containers such as Tomcat, JBOSS, IBM Websphere
Familiarity with Web2.0 technology and Javascript Frameworks such as AngularJS
Familiarity with Portal Standards (JSR 168, JSR 286) and portal containers such as Liferay
Familiarity with Business Process Management (BPM) concepts and technologies such as IBM BPM
Sound knowledge of industry standard best practices, development lifecycle processes, and methodologies. Experience using agile methodology is a plus
Extensive knowledge of strategy setting, program requirement and project management methodologies and system development methodologies
Good problem-solving, business analysis, and project management, including conceptual and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to be client-focused, responsive, flexible, positive, and committed to delivering quality service and improvement in an environment of continuous change
Ability to work effectively with external partners/vendors to implement new solutions
Proven ability to work as a team player and develop solid work partnerships
Possess excellent time management skills and consistently meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to influence others and facilitate meetings
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
