Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive data engineering strategy aligned with the university's overall goals and objectives.

Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, ensuring their technical growth and fostering a high-performing team culture.

Data Architecture: Oversee the design and maintenance of a scalable and flexible data architecture to support the university's diverse data sources and use cases.

Data Pipeline Development: Oversee the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading.

Data Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce data quality standards to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data.

Data Access and Governance: Establish and maintain data access controls and governance policies to ensure data security and compliance.

Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across the university to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet those needs

Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and evaluate their potential to enhance the university's data infrastructure.

Lead, motivate, and guide team to ensure alignment with National University mission, vision, values, and departmental objectives.

Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and coach team members to enhance their performance.

Identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement solutions to improve processes and outcomes.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in data architecture, statistics, computer science, required.

Minimum of five (5) years of related experience required.

Working experience with Data Management and Governance solutions (i.e., Data Warehousing, Data Lakes and Reservoirs) in both relational technologies (e.g. Oracle) and no-SQL solutions (Hadoop) for both on-prem and cloud (Azure) deployments required.

Preferred

Master’s degree in data architecture, statistics, computer science, preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing others in a data environment preferred.

Experience in higher education preferred.

Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred.

Some Travel Required; occasional when needed.
