Responsibilities

Analyzing denial trends
Conducting EPIC system edits
Validating coding accuracy
Overseeing Charge Description Master (CDM) processes affecting reimbursement
Monitoring authorization trends
Collaborating with departments to educate on billing and coding compliance
Working alongside managed care and compliance teams to resolve issues with payers

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Certification (CPC, COC, RHIT, RHIA, CCS)
1-2 years of coding experience
1-2 years in insurance or denial management
In-depth understanding of hospital billing, reimbursement processes, denials, and appeals
Familiarity with third-party contracts and federal/state regulations governing the healthcare industry
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
Proven organizational skills, capable of working independently and prioritizing tasks effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines
Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and navigate complex computer systems
Strong research and problem-solving capabilities to address coding and reimbursement challenges effectively

Preferred

Associate's degree or higher in a health or business-related field
At least 3 years of experience in coding, billing, insurance follow-up, collections, or denial management in a hospital or clinical setting
