Responsibilities

Conceive, develop and execute publicity campaigns for various types of books.
Liaise with adult division for marketing opportunities.
Pitch and secure media coverage with national and local outlets.
Develop relationships with media outlets and coordinate author appearances.
Plan and execute author tours and special events.
Write press releases and promotional materials.
Brief authors on media interviews.
Attend festivals and conventions, accompany authors to events.
Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and media contacts.
Oversee budgets and manage a direct report.
Present at sales and marketing meetings.

Required

Minimum 4 years of publicity experience required with an emphasis placed on booking national media in both traditional and digital outlets and author events
Proven ability to generate creative angles, pitches, and secure off the book page coverage
Strong presentation skills and the ability to represent campaigns to authors, agents and internally in meetings
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills
A college degree or equivalent experience

Preferred

Experience in children’s publishing or media is preferred
Cover letters are strongly preferred
