Responsibilities
From defined specification, formulate and execute a plan for the design, development, and validation of both firmware and software for embedded industrial platforms. This will include new products and enhancements to existing products.
Generate and maintain detailed technical documents during the course of product development.
With the R&D manager, agree on a plan for the work allocated and be responsible for the execution, accuracy, and content of the defined work.
Provide support for existing electronic and software products, as required by both the company and its customers. Duties will include bug fixing, feature improvements, training, technical consulting, and application of technical knowledge.
Collaboration within the department and cross functional teams to deliver the software products as required.
Ensure the company procedures and standards are adhered to.
Maintain and enhance one’s knowledge of the latest technology to sustain and improve company’s products.
Carry out any other reasonable duties, as assigned, which are within the capabilities of the job holder.

Required
B.S. degree in Computer, Software, or Electrical Engineering (or related) area.
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial embedded product development role.
Demonstrable project management and organizational skills.
Demonstrable strong verbal and written communication skills with specific technical document writing and presentation experience.
Demonstrable complex analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. (Self-motivated and self-managing.)
Participation in a professional society is desired.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of structured software design and validation processes.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of test-driven development approach preferred.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of embedded software development in “C” and “C++”.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of RTOS principles and operations.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of microcontrollers.
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of test equipment (such as serial data analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscope, etc.).
Extensive knowledge with demonstrable experience of embedded development or debug tools (such as emulators, JTAG, etc.).
Preferred
Advance degree (M.S., Ph.D.) preferred.
Familiarity with and knowledge of database design and implementation (SQL based platform preferred).
Familiarity with and knowledge of PC-based application software development using “C#” or similar.
Familiarity with and knowledge of electrical switchgear and control gear for industrial power control, distribution, and protection.
Familiarity with and knowledge of awareness of regulatory standards (ANSI, IEEE, IEC).
Familiarity with and knowledge of industrial control protocols (e.g. IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, Devicenet, Profibus, etc.).
Familiarity with and knowledge of embedded development or debug tools (such as emulator).
