Responsibilities

Responsible for the design of structures, foundations, overhead wires, aluminum bus and/or site grading plans for electrical substations and transmission lines.
Coordinate with project engineers, designers, and client representatives.
Review drawings for substation equipment, vendor supplied equipment, and customer standards.
Lead a large portion or the entirety of a transmission line design project.

Required

5-10 years utility experience (15kV through to 500kV)
Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering with a structural knowledge also desirable
Strong communication skills to coordinate with project engineers, designers and client representatives.
Reviews drawings for substation equipment, vendor supplied equipment and customer standards

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards obtaining.
Proficiency with PLS CADD, PLS POLE or PLS TOWER software
Experience with foundation design software (MFAD, PLS CAISSON, L-PILE, RISA)
Detailed design of new transmission line structures for new lattice towers, concrete poles, tubular steel poles, wood poles & H-frames.
Preparation and development of overhead and underground transmission line designs up to 500kV.
Understanding of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
Interpreting vendor information to provide design deliverables
Ability to lead a large portion or the entirety of a transmission line design project.
