Responsibilities

Prepare and/or reviews contracts involving various substantive areas of law: including, but not limited to, commercial, real estate, compliance, licensing, and employment
Provide corporate governance advice to the organization, including preparation of policies
Assist in the company's acquisition activity (primarily due diligence)
Enhance the effectiveness of the legal department through participation in staff meetings, training, and positive interaction with internal and external clients
Understanding of the company's business strategy
Responsible for foreseeing and protecting the company against legal risks
Provide support in non-transactional legal matters, as needed

Required

Must be able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be a self-starter with a good business sense and a sense of urgency, honesty and fairness
Must have the ability to respond effectively to a wide range of transactional inquiries
Must be a graduate of an accredited law school
Must be admitted to the New York state bar
5 to 10 years' of experience in a corporate or law firm setting; in-house experience a plus
Must have experience with commercial, real estate, contract and corporate law

Preferred

Second Language, Spanish and/or Mandarin is a plus
Experience with corporate governance is a plus
