Responsibilities
Manage primary and secondary packaging development programs for a business unit.
Serve as packaging technical lead on project teams.
Support the packaging functional team with technical expertise.
Identify and assess technical problems, provide solutions and recommendations.
Develop new packaging for safe, convenient, and attractive transport of products.
Design packaging material standards and specifications.
Evaluate packaging and transporting methods to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Recommend efficient packing procedures and innovations in packaging materials.
Design engineering drawings and specifications with suppliers.
Coordinate laboratory tests and plant trials for new materials and equipment.
Provide technical support to ensure quality standards and package performance.
Participate in continuous improvement teams.
Oversee the coordination of activities at contract packaging and labeling sites.
Design exterior package to ensure proper product identification and consumer appeal.

Required
BS in Package Engineering or related technical discipline.
Typical 1-3 years of direct experience in package engineering projects.
Ability to Execute projects on time and on budget with minimal guidance from manager.
Proactively anticipates issues and determines contingency plans.
Sets up realistic timelines and testing plans.
Works well with cross functional partners to execute projects with excellence.
Tenaciously attacks programs. Is committed to achieving goals, through obstacles, issues and surprises.
Able to change direction quickly if needed.
Sets high standards of performance.
Is assertive and persistent in project work and communication.
Technical background in Packaging, Packaging Systems.
Solid understanding of materials, and packaging applications.
Able to solve moderately complex technical issues without support.
Communicates in a timely, concise and effective manner, both written and verbally.
Able to present to V.P. levels in the organization without support from management.
Active listener, interactive in meetings insuring POV is expressed and understood by cross functional team members.
Ability to act in an appropriate manner in varying business situations.
Open to others input.
Seeks support from cross functional partners for new initiatives and approaches.
Able to rally cross functional peers to goal or action.
