Responsibilities

Counsel clients on U.S. export controls matters, focusing on Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Conduct jurisdiction and classification analyses, handle encryption controls, technology controls, and draft license applications and Commodity Jurisdiction requests.

Assist clients with voluntary self-disclosures, internal and government investigations related to export control concerns, and M&A trade due diligence.

Provide expertise in economic sanctions, OFAC background, national security reviews by CFIUS, and mitigation of FOCI for U.S. contractors.

Possess excellent academic and professional credentials, strong analytical, communication, and writing skills, and be a member of the California Bar.

Required

4-6 years of experience counseling clients with respect to U.S. export controls matters

Experience with Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

Experience in performing jurisdiction and classification analyses

Experience in drafting license applications and Commodity Jurisdiction requests

Experience in representing clients with respect to voluntary self-disclosures

Experience in internal and government investigations related to export control concerns

Excellent academic and professional credentials

Highly developed analytical, communication, and writing skills

Must be a member of the California Bar

Preferred

Experience in encryption controls and technology controls under EAR

Prior work experience in M&A trade due diligence

Background in economic sanctions and OFAC

Experience in national security reviews by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS)

Experience in mitigation of foreign ownership, control, or influence (FOCI mitigation) for cleared U.S. contractors
