Responsibilities

Perform quality assurance review of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms.
Provide civil engineering support to active construction projects including submittal review, responding to RFIs, quality assurance site visits and inspections, commissioning, and project closeout.
Ensure that the civil aspects of projects are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
Investigate construction to identify major problems and initiate corrective actions.
Meet with personnel (e.g., architectural and engineering experts, consultants, construction managers, and customers) to resolve construction project issues.
Prepare civil engineering designs for new construction and investigate existing conditions to develop recommendations for necessary repairs and modifications.
Complete design drawings, calculations, and specifications with design and drafting software.

Required

Must be a US Citizen.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
To be acceptable, the program must lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or include specific courses in engineering science or physics.
OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
OR Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board.
OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering.
OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, with at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
