Responsibilities

Design and engineer commercial & utility scale PV solar systems, solar + battery storage systems, and multi-asset islanding microgrids between 50kW - 5MW in size.

Develop design documents using Helioscope and AutoCAD.

Interface and provide streamlined project information, recommended hardware selection, and bill of materials to the project team and stakeholders.

Lead project management on study, design, and construction projects to deliver on-time, on-budget, and handle challenges as they occur.

Travel to project sites from time-to-time to gather site-specific data, as required.

Site assessment and analysis both from on-site data collection and network tools.

Contributing to or writing technical papers.

Site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and historical data.

Prepare interconnection and permit applications based on respective utilities and AHJs.

Develop detailed equipment specifications and work with equipment providers to understand interfaces, particularly for command, control, and communication.

Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permit agencies, installation contractors, and other engineering firms.

Provide internal advising on constructability and design constraints to other members of the team.

All other assignments and special projects, as requested by Management.

Required

A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another related engineering field.

Minimum of 4-8 years of experience designing commercial and/or utility scale solar PV systems. Must understand the integration of distributed energy with buildings.

Experience with battery energy storage and/or multi-asset microgrid design and integration. Experience with EVSE / electric vehicle charging integration also a plus.

Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, and ability to read and interpret local codes. Specific knowledge of any one local code is not required.

Ability to travel, up to 15% of the time.

Minimum of 3-4 years of experience working with AutoCAD, including an understanding of layer control, dimensioning and scaling, sheet sets, blocks, xrefs, line weights, plot files, etc.

Experience using Helioscope

Proficiency in AutoCAD

Excellent ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel, both internally and outside the company

Self-motivated and directed, tenacious in problem solving, and able to work independently.

Comfortable working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment on multiple projects at a time.
