Responsibilities

Set-up, inoculate, and operate meticulously shake flasks, small- and medium-scale mammalian cell culture, yeast and bacterial fermentations.
Run deep well plates, shake flask for construct screening and process optimization.
Perform primary recovery operations such as homogenization, centrifugation, inclusion body wash, solubilization, depth filtration, and refolding.
Run SDS-PAGE gels, western blots, and protein concentration assay.
Operate AKTA Avant, Bio-Rad NGC FPLC systems for protein purification (as needed)
Maintain upstream lab equipment, lab space, inventory of upstream raw materials and consumables.
Record experimental details and observations in the laboratory notebooks in a timely manner.
Present experimental design, data, and research findings in internal team meetings.

Required

BS or MS degree in biochemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field with at least 2+ years of wet lab experience in an academic or industry environment.
Experience working with E. coli or/and Pichia pastoris.
Experience running SDS-PAGE and western blots for monitoring protein production.
Experience with primary recovery operations such as centrifugation, depth filtration, homogenization, solubilization, refolding.
Strong theoretical understanding of the principles of fermentation/cell culture process.
Strong communication skill (oral and written) and ability to work effectively across functions.
Ability to proactively prioritize and help drive experimental designs forward.
Growth mindset with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Able to work during outside of regular business hours and weekends.

Preferred

Experience with TFF operation to concentrate and diafilter recombinant proteins (a plus).
