Responsibilities
Must meet criteria for VA access and work in VA setting.
Serves as a qualitative researcher to collect research data employing a variety of techniques to include, but not be limited to, interviews, focus groups, case studies, and surveys.
Assists investigators with design of qualitative research methods and procedures for collecting data.
Evaluates methodological approaches for sampling, data collection.
Formats, enters, and organizes data for statistical analysis.
Conducts statistical analyses, employing methods of qualitative analysis to include, but not be limited to, content analysis, narrative analysis, discourse analysis, thematic analysis, and grounded theory analysis.
Gathers statistical and narrative data on project status, including resource utilization, data on participation, adherence to protocols on matters such as participant education, control of data, and other similar matters.
Uses a wide variety of computer applications for data analysis and data presentation.
Presents results of qualitative data analysis in both oral and written formats (i.e., reports, conferences, manuscripts).
Completes literature reviews on pertinent subjects.
Assists investigators with design of qualitative research methods for proposals, grants, and manuscripts.
Works to broaden research within the associated program or department.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); plus four years of related research experience, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.

Preferred
A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, public health, community-based research, or other scientific discipline in a related field is preferred.
