Responsibilities

Manage multiple portfolios of solar PV and BESS generating plants

Interface with industry-leading developers, owners, and operators in a high-exposure customer-facing role

Diagnose performance issues and execute performance improvement plans

Works with other Performance Team members in developing processes to quicken and enhance day to day activities.

Collaborate with internal teams to collect and consolidate necessary data to complete reports and other analytical tools and deliverables.

Calculate and analyze energy losses incurred from equipment outages and communicate impacts to relevant internal and external teams.

Create high level analysis for determining areas of correlation from Operational and Work Order data.

Using internal reporting tools, update existing reports for clients including Operation reports, forecasting, etc.

Identify operational issues and initiate problem resolution while working with other internal teams.

Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures for internal reference and training purposes.

Review and enhance current internal analytics software.

Improve upon existing methodologies by fine-tuning model parameters and testing model enhancements.

Apply statistical or machine learning knowledge to specific production data

Grow into a role of subject matter expertise in PV and BESS power plants

Generate daily/weekly/monthly/annual performance reports

Generate a performance reports at customer request

Identify performance shortfalls and take necessary steps to improve

Troubleshoot common problems with plant measurement equipment and data quality errors

Drive continuous improvement of performance team procedures and tools

Participate in team and internal software development with other team members

Communicate effectively and accurately with customers to review site performance

Compare measured energy to contractual predicted and expected energy and evaluate plant performance models

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Graduate degree a plus

Training in energy systems is preferred with some understanding of PV performance prediction. This includes resource assessment, sky transposition models, mono/poly/thin-film PV module characteristics, inverters, array soiling and shading, DC and AC collection systems, and power grid dynamics

3-5 years of experience in power generation industry with significant time spent on: performance shortfall root cause analysis, analyzing large data sets, visualizing data in a variety of graphical formats, identifying trends and outliers, practical knowledge of data mining techniques, application of basic statistical principles, using and/or contributing to open-source software

Proficiency with Excel and all other Microsoft Office Suite programs

Proficiency with database query language such as SQL

Proficiency with solar PV and BESS plant modeling software

Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to accurately describe the relationship between physical events and trends in measured data of highly complex systems

Ability to work in cross-matrix teams of peers to efficiently complete highly complex projects and goals

Ability to share technical expertise with team members and mentor others for success

Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects and tasks

Ability to travel up to 30% of time

Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details and thoughts to internal/external clients
