Responsibilities

Coordinate access to services and accommodations for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind.
Manage the provision of interpreting and CART service needs of students
Supervise professional staff CART providers, interpreters, and student staff, as well as interact with agency CART providers and interpreters. Provide leadership, guidance, discipline, and support.
Conduct performance evaluations quarterly
Utilize department database to monitor services, communicate with consumers regarding status of their requests for services, establish schedules, assure coverage, and generate reports for operations.
Provide timely and responsive service to students
Forecast, assess, oversee requests for interpreting and CART services, consult/negotiate with departments and agencies to coordinate services.
Work with faculty and staff to ensure an optimal learning environment is created for students
May meet with deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind students, as determined by department, to determine current accommodation needs and provide ongoing support for the duration of their academic career
Maintain confidential files and records
Assess interpreting and CART operation functions and recommend policies, procedures and objectives.
Initiate and prepares administrative reports and documents.
Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff/student staff.
Monitor work in progress and upon completion implements corrective action as required.
Review accuracy of and approves invoices submitted from agencies and prepares periodic financial reports.
Represent the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
Act as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.
Serve as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils and committees as assigned.
Develop work plans in accordance with established unit and department objectives and funding limitations.
Review job performance in conjunction with established unit, department and university goals and objectives.
Stay current on theories, best practices, and current legislation related to disability issues, developmental education, and student development
Support and participate in spirit, pride, and tradition initiatives
Responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in ASU Spirit, Pride, and Tradition while instilling institutional affiliation and college pride
Recommend and monitors compliance with department policies and procedures.
Communicate with other department and university administrators; resolves or assists with the resolution of sensitive issues.

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred

Fluent in American Sign Language
Demonstrated knowledge of case management
Demonstrated knowledge of determining accommodations for students with disabilities
Experience coordinating sign language and CART services
Demonstrated knowledge of state of Arizona licensure laws for interpreting
Demonstrated knowledge of speech to text services
Demonstrated knowledge of CART certification and skill requirements
Evidence of interpreting certification(s) (examples: CDI, CI, CT, NIC, etc.)
