Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and consolidated.
Maintain and oversee the implementation and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and coding of financial transactions.
Perform regular reconciliations of various accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to support the audit process.
Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, analyzing trends and variances to support strategic financial planning.
Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes and procedures to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
Assist with tax-related matters, including the preparation of tax filings and ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations.
Utilize a deep understanding of mortgage industry dynamics to perform financial analyses, evaluate loan portfolios, and assess risk exposure.
Collaborate closely with the finance team, senior management, and cross-functional departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, and share knowledge with the finance team.

Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience (5-10 years) in accounting or financial management, preferably within the HEA / mortgage or financial services industry.
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset to address challenges and drive process improvements.
High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Preferred
CPA designation preferred.
Netsuite experience including system implementation is a major plus.
