Traffic Engineer
OWN, Inc. is an engineering firm that believes in the power of employee-ownership. They are looking for a Traffic Engineer to join their Overland Park, KS team, responsible for designing traffic control systems, conducting traffic studies, and developing solutions to improve traffic flow and safety.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Collaborate with project teams to design traffic control devices, signage, pavement markings, and signal systems for roads, intersections, and other transportation networks
Perform traffic impact studies, evaluate transportation models, and conduct traffic flow analyses to identify areas of congestion or safety concerns
Collect and analyze data on traffic volume, speed, and accident reports to develop solutions for improving traffic flow and reducing accidents
Conduct safety studies, analyze accident reports, and recommend safety improvements like pedestrian crossings, roundabouts, or traffic calming measures
Develop and implement timing plans for traffic signals to improve efficiency and minimize delays
Generating detailed reports and conducting studies to assess project feasibility, environmental impacts, and compliance with regulations
Qualification
Required
0-6+ years of traffic or transportation engineering experience
B.S. in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field from ABET accredited program
Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
Preferred
Preferred experience with traffic analysis software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, AutoCAD)
