Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and management of Alkami’s cloud first network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and related systems

Provide escalated technical support, troubleshooting network issues through to resolution, utilizing advanced tools like packet capture and log analysis

Lead network automation initiatives, utilizing scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, TeamCity, Terraform) to streamline network operations and enhance efficiency

Collaborate with internal teams and customers to deploy networking solutions and ensure seamless integration across environments

Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance in best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and automation skills

Oversee network performance monitoring and proactively identify issues before they impact business operations

Manage system upgrades, patching, and compliance tasks, ensuring network components meet security and regulatory requirements

Develop and maintain network documentation, including logical and physical diagrams, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures

Serve as a technical project leader, ensuring timely and successful delivery of network projects and solutions

Participate in Network Operations execution work

Participate in an on-call rotation to provide network support during both business and non-business hours

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

5+ years of experience in senior network engineering roles with direct systems responsibility

Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Python, TeamCity, Terraform, Gitlab) is required

Proven experience in managing complex, multi-site networks, including experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure)

Expert knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, MPLS, IPSec) and their deployment in a cloud-native national deployment

3-5 years of network automation and scripting using Python, CI/CD platforms, or other relevant tools

Strong ownership as a network SME of several platforms firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and high-availability systems in both customer on-premise and cloud environments

Strong troubleshooting skills, utilizing packet captures, log analysis, and other diagnostic tools

Ability to lead technical projects, manage competing priorities, and ensure timely delivery

Experience with network performance monitoring and optimization

Experience with driving DevOps tools and methodologies in networking teams
