Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of system administration, including GFM development, QA, testing, and production environments. This includes the configuration of permissions, user groups, and directory structures.
Work with the Government’s CE contractor to ensure the proper maintenance of databases, operating systems, and system security.
Prepare and monitor database backups, ensuring accurate and timely synchronization of Oracle databases across all GFM environments.
Provide backup support and configuration for database directory structures.
Perform regular updates and patching of applications, excluding operating system patches. This includes performing maintenance and configuration tasks specific to GFM applications and Oracle databases.
Maintain virtual machines (VMs), including Bastion Host or equivalent instances, to ensure system stability.
Manage the development environment, including application and database tiers, web servers, code repository servers, and code scanning servers housed on Solaris, RHEL, and Windows virtual servers.
Propose changes to improve system efficiency, including suggestions for resolving software and hardware issues, code sharing, and system integration.
Focus on improving the overall system performance by leveraging SOA principles and Web Services for interoperability and reuse.
Set up monitoring tools and provide ongoing technical support to the CE contractor for software patch installations and releases across all GFM environments.
Load applications and COTS software within the development non-production environment.
Provide technical support for system tuning and patch management within non-production environments.
Ensure all systems are compliant with DoD security standards by maintaining the required IAT Level II certification and performing regular security updates and system scans.

Required
Active Secret Clearance.
Must hold an active an IAT Level II certification; CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of work experience in system administration, with at least 2 years of specialized experience in application development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related disciplines, along with technical certifications in relevant programming languages and systems administration.
Extensive knowledge of system administration, Oracle Database management, and virtual machine maintenance.
Experience with RHEL, Solaris, and Windows virtual server zones.
Familiarity with web-based application systems, including Java, C#, .NET, and other programming languages.
Experience with system patching, database tuning, and backup management.
Proficiency in setting up monitoring tools and providing technical support for multi-tiered environments.
Understanding of SOA principles and Web Services for system integration and reuse.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues.
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with the CE contractor, Government teams, and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a focus on maintaining and improving system performance.
Preferred
CompTIA Security+ CE highly preferred.
