Responsibilities
Develop expertise in select data sets that we use for market analysis, including understanding how to access and use a data source, the methodology behind the collection of the data, and consequently the capabilities and shortfalls of a particular data source
Use analytics software (primarily Excel) to generate outputs from given data sets, which we will then use as part of executive presentations. Candidate will typically work with their manager to align on a rough outline of the output, however the candidate should be able to develop charts/tables that are suitable for an executive-level presentation
For a given analytical need, investigate different data sources and develop an opinion of which data sources best suit the need
Conduct secondary research (e.g., searching news articles and other public data sets)
Work with third-party vendors to support evaluation of new data sources we may consider purchasing

Strong data analytics capabilities, in particular using Microsoft Excel (the primary software that will be used for analysis)
Strong attention to detail to sense-check and avoid making errors in analysis
Basic/intermediate SQL skills
Intuition for products and metrics relevant to our company
2+ years of experience working in a data analytics/strategy/bizops/market research role, ideally in a tech company
