Responsibilities

Oversee and manage the accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines, particularly those relevant to federal contracting.
Prepare and oversee the annual budget process, providing leadership in the development of short and long-term financial plans.
Monitor financial performance and ensure the accuracy of financial forecasts, variance analysis, and cost control measures.
Manage and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Ensure all statutory requirements of the organization are met including IRS regulations for federal and state income taxes.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets.
Coordinate audits and prepare audit schedules, data, and information.
Provide financial analyses and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
Collaborate with other department managers to support overall organizational goals and objectives.
Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other external partners.
Ensure that the accounting department staff is well-trained and mentored, providing ongoing training and development opportunities.
Maintain and enhance the accounting systems and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Support the preparation of financial information for contracts, grants, and proposals.

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of federal contracting regulations, including FAR and DFAR.
Experience with government contract accounting, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and DCAA compliance.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
