Responsibilities
Content Development: Scope and create content specifically tailored for Developers. Lead impactful demonstrations, drive awareness across technical forums and social media, and promote best practices and solutions that resonate with the community. Represent GitHub at high-visibility events (e.g., hackathons, meetups, in-person and virtual events), delivering talks and engaging deeply with community members. You’ll also coach and mentor other advocates in presenting and demoing at these events to help them connect authentically with developers.
Understanding the Tech Audience/Community: Act as a recognized subject matter expert within relevant communities by immersing yourself in industry trends, technological developments, and community objectives. You'll continually engage with community members and GitHub product users, whether online or at events, to anticipate their needs and understand the key drivers that shape their goals. As a thought leader, you’ll gain insights from the community and bring them back to GitHub to inform our approach.
Internal Advocacy and Impact: Gather and share feedback from the technical community on GitHub products, user experiences, and emerging needs. Actively communicate this feedback with product and marketing teams to champion long-term improvements, product updates, and more immediate changes that reflect the community's voice. Use data and key metrics to show the impact of these initiatives, building networks with key stakeholders to ensure the community’s feedback is both heard and acted upon.
Technical Expertise: Continuously seek learning and teaching opportunities, engaging with developers and customers to stay informed on current technologies, specific technical challenges, and adjacent developments. You’ll apply your technical skills in sample coding and content, and build scalable processes for sharing this expertise across GitHub teams. Actively contribute to the industry by participating in advisory boards and other collaborative spaces to keep GitHub aligned with the latest innovations and developments.
