Responsibilities
Lead Accounting Pod : Lead a pod including yourself and 1-2 bookkeepers handling your shared group of clients, ensuring they are effectively handling tasks such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance and tax filings and payments.
Financial Reporting : Prepare, review and analyze month end financial statements, ensuring they are accurate and comply with accounting principles and regulations. Proactively prepare summaries of financials explaining key variances.
Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring accurate financial information, communicating insights to key stakeholders allowing them to understand the financial implications of business decisions, addressing concerns, and fostering long-term partnerships by delivering exceptional service and support.
Budgeting and Forecasting : Create and update client budgets, financial forecasts and KPI dashboards, monitoring performance against budgets, and making recommendations for adjustments
Internal Controls : Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance : Ensuring the organization complies with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Audit Coordination : Working with internal and external auditors to provide necessary information and ensure successful audits.
Financial Analysis : Analyze client financial data to identify trends, prepare for month end meetings, understand opportunities for cost savings, and areas for improvement. This also includes coordinating ad hoc reporting requests.
Product Research & Development : Assist in researching and building out future Good Operator Accounting products and competencies. This includes but is not limited to keeping up on current industry trends and insights and the latest systems and tools to help our clients better run their businesses.
Internal Systems & Process Development : Develops and maintains internal accounting systems and assets to deliver client services
Software and Systems : Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems, ensuring they meet the organization's needs.

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field or relevant certifications
2-5 years of proven experience of managing US SMB / startup accounting systems either in a corporate setting or accounting firm
Ability to manage projects across multiple clients, managing deadlines and teams made up of superiors, subordinates, peers, contractors, and clients
Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the accounting and finance team
Ability to proactively and consistently communicate with clients on account and financial insights and recommendations to financial and non-financial stakeholders
Expert in delivering high-quality customer service, anticipating client needs and maintaining strong relationships
Proficient in interpreting financial statements and performance metrics, identify trends, forecasts and budgets
Ability to analyze existing processes and systems and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
Expert MS Office Suite, and Google Workspace
Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to develop systems that can be managed by other team members consistently with a high degree of quality
Ability to work independently and learn new trends, systems and processes quickly
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Ability to troubleshoot and find resourceful solutions to challenges
Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the accounting and finance team
