Responsibilities
Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain IBM i-based databases (DB2 for i, etc.) and ensure they are optimized for performance.
Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for IBM i-based databases.
Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of IBM i database systems, including query optimization, indexing, and system resources management.
Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data, including user access control, auditing, and encryption. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
System Upgrades: Plan and execute database upgrades and patches on IBM i platforms with minimal disruption to business operations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including system performance, connectivity, and integrity issues.
Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including reorganization, index rebuilds, and data archiving.
Collaboration: Work with developers to design and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and queries. Assist in database-related development and deployment tasks.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies.

Required
Proven experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with IBM i (AS/400) and DB2 for i.
In-depth knowledge of IBM i operating system (OS/400), database management, and tools like IBM Navigator for i, STRSQL, etc.
Expertise in database performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security.
Strong understanding of SQL and relational database management principles.
Experience with IBM i system hardware, memory, and storage configurations.
Familiarity with IBM i job management, work management, and system resources.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory compliance standards related to database management.
Preferred
IBM i Certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2 for i).
Experience with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.
Familiarity with IBM Power Systems hardware.
Familiarity with Cloud Computing, Nodejs, any other IBM MDM tools (Informatica).
