Responsibilities

Provide individualized career guidance advising and coaching to employees with the goal of helping employees identify their career of choice.
Advise, mentor and support Skookum employees through the Employee Career Plan process; Insert plans into Workday, tracks these plans, and follow up with employee on their career development progression and goals
Schedule employee meetings and input case-notes about the employee interactions into Workday.
Work with any employees who want to access Tuition Assistance. This includes having career conversations with applicants, assisting employees to apply for TA and following up with employees who use TA to obtain transcripts. Communicate all TA information to the Career Services Manager.
Teach and mentor employees through the process of writing resumes, applying for jobs, creating Linked-In Profiles and preparing for interviews.
Facilitate career assessments to assist employees for identifying strengths and possible career paths related to abilities.
Guide employees through the application process for technical, college and university programs.
Assist employees with applying for financial aid, scholarships, other types of university, college and tech school financial assistance.
Work with student employees to access disability services and assist with educational planning at their college/schools.
Research and explore potential career paths, certifications, technical trade, college and university programs.
Build and maintain partnerships with community colleges, trade schools and universities near our sites on the East Coast so that you can match our employees with programs that are a good fit.
Network with state and federal Workforce Development and career pathway stakeholders.
Work in conjunction with the Recruiting team to network in local communities. This will include assisting with job fairs and attending and hosting networking events.
Network with local high schools and youth programs. Work with site leadership to provide job shadows, site tours and internships opportunities for students interested in the trades.
Present at schools and organizations to explain Skookum’s mission and upward and outward mobility focus.
Create strategies and work with site leadership to “grow-our-own" particularly within Total Facility Maintenance sites where the average age of our trades workers is over 55.
Track labor force trends and data.
Work closely with the Workforce Development team.
Have excellent time management, organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
Able to quickly build professional relationships with employees and community partners.

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Organizational Development or related field required
A minimum of one year experience in providing employee career development or equivalent lived experience as a person with a disability required
Must obtain Career Advisor Certification within 18 months of employment, if not already held
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance
Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access
A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position
