Responsibilities

Answer health related questions regarding psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, treatment options and related health issues via email and telephone
Connect constituents with National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) services, programs, and events
Educate constituents about their insurance coverage and benefits
Counsel patients on selecting an insurance plan for their health needs
Guide patients and their health care providers through the insurance appeals process
Maintain consistent follow-up with constituents regarding their treatment satisfaction and access to care issue resolution
Stay abreast of updates and changes in the treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis through attendance at workshops and meetings, as well as independent study of resources made available by the Foundation
Collect and enter all pertinent information into patient contact database to track requests and responses
Manage a database of patient cases
Compile patient stories for program and NPF marketing purposes
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor’s degree with at least two years related experience OR five+ years related experience in health education/promotion, medical offices, community health, or social work
Excellent communication and writing skills required
Working knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, hospital and provider referral protocols, medical insurance plans, billing, and regulations
Experience in conveying medical information via phone and email
Ability to learn a variety of computer applications, i.e. Salesforce, SharePoint, Excel
Ability to learn, understand, and relay health and treatment information to constituents
Patient, tolerant, empathetic, and able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
Self-motivated, diplomatic, tactful, and a team player
Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
Handles self under stress in a professional and courteous manner

Preferred

Bilingual Spanish highly valued
