Responsibilities

Review, analyze, and audit law firm generated prebills for compliance with the insurance carriers’ guidelines through the utilization of an electronic billing system.
Conduct line by line review of invoices to determine accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance with carrier guidelines.
Identify billing discrepancies based on knowledge of carrier guidelines, industry standards, and litigation history.
Educate timekeepers accordingly regarding insurance carriers’ guidelines.
Utilize and create reports to determine timekeeper performance trends.
Identify firm billing trends and elevate to management.
Review invoices flagged for deductions or disputes by clients.
Work closely with attorneys and timekeepers to gather information for appeals, ensuring that all billing entries are substantiated and properly documented.
Collaborate with the billing department to adjust invoices based on appeal outcomes and ensure final bills are accurate.
Billing Compliance Email Triage and Prioritization.

Required

A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal or equivalent experience, preferably in insurance defense or coverage litigation.
A minimum of two years paralegal (or equivalent) law firm experience, preferably in insurance defense or coverage litigation.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is beneficial.
Experience reviewing, auditing, or revising billing entries in the insurance defense industry.
