Responsibilities
Advise LP Legal and Business on strategic environmental issues, emerging or revised environmental laws, and general concerns affecting inactive sites.
Report to the Business EHS staff on applicable initiatives and ongoing issues.
Responses and solutions related to CERCLA, RCRA corrective action, and hazardous waste treatment unit investigations, closures, and reporting with regulatory agencies and third parties to minimize regulatory impact and compliance issues.
Remediation solutions that minimize regulatory impact and compliance related to inactive sites.
Management of a broad portfolio of corporate legacy sites in various stages of investigation and remediation as well as sites with multiple parties, cost allocations, and responsible party coordination.
Negotiations with regulatory agencies and management of compliance with applicable orders, agency directives, and permits for inactive sites.
Financial assurance demonstrations for portfolio of sites.
Lead quarterly meetings on financial environmental reserves with accounting personnel.
Direct and oversee ongoing cleanups at legacy sites.
Timely review and complete online certifications of monitoring reports for inactive sites.
Manage all aspects of waste disposal from inactive sites, including manifesting and required reporting to agencies.
Oversee environmental projects involving internal/external environmental managers, consultants, contractors, and other resources for inactive sites or all sites.
Provide support for businesses related to emerging environmental needs.
Provide support for enhancing internal systems and optimizing processes.
Actively monitor and participate in applicable rulemaking; participate in industry groups to positively influence emerging issues.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as necessary.

Required
In-depth knowledge of applicable Federal and State environmental regulations.
Thorough knowledge of environmental remediation and hazardous waste regulations.
Knowledge of groundwater monitoring/movement and remediation techniques.
Working and negotiating with Federal and State agencies at the highest levels.
Thorough knowledge of budgeting.
Knowledge of state requirements for permitting environmental projects.
Effective project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively manage groups of contractors.
Ability to lead individuals and teams to achieve goals and objectives.
Post-secondary degree in Environmental, Science, Engineering, or related field.
7 or more years’ environmentally related experience.
5 years’ demonstrated management and/or supervisory experience.
5 or more years of manufacturing experience.
Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
Ability to work for short periods in physically stressful situations required.
Moderate travel required (~30%).
