Responsibilities
Function as a Lead Civil Engineer
Prepare preliminary engineering reports
Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule
Use of design software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, HEC-RAS and FLO-2D
Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities
Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work
Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS
Conduct site visits and documents findings
Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents
Lead a team of engineers and drafters
Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects
Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client)
Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects
Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients
Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm
Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy
Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations
Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff
Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current
Qualification
Required
BS Degree in Civil Engineering
Must be a licensed PE in Arizona with a minimum of 8 years of experience
Understand successful proposal writing (SOQ/RFP) and budget management for public contracts
Ability to market, communicate, and develop relationships with existing and new public agency clients
Experience with public roadway engineering (rehabilitation/widening/construction), water & sewer improvements, and storm drain improvements
Expertise in the field of hydrology and hydraulics including the development of floodplain delineations and LOMRs
Highly organized and detail oriented
Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, addresses or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead
Develop relationships with clients that allow for ease in communications and problem solving
